Home Safety Assessments

Home safety assessments were developed to provide persons in the community with assessments for any safety concerns, possible adaptive equipment recommendations, and for any accessibility needs. Upon the request for a home safety assessment to your home, an occupational therapist will call and schedule an appointment time to come to the home. The therapist will look at each area of the home. They will evaluate inside and out, noting safety concerns with entrances, the kitchen, throw rugs, room accessibility, living room, bedroom, bathroom environment, electrical concerns, and emergency needs. A written review of recommendations will be completed and a copy left with you. Community phone numbers and contact names will be given. The therapist will follow up with you in two weeks regarding any further questions.
