The DMH Cancer Care Institute— a dedicated Comprehensive Community Cancer Program (CCCP) located in the Cancer Care Center of Decatur—provides a unique patient-centered environment from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and survivorship. Every step along their cancer journey, our patients and families can access an array of services and the latest technology. Our experienced and dedicated team of physicians, nurses and staff—working closely with Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSCI)—offer the largest interdisciplinary cancer-focused physician group in Central and Southern Illinois.

For decades, Decatur Memorial Hospital has been at the forefront of the global quest to eradicate cancer and to eliminate the burden of cancer for the lives that are touched by this disease. It’s our commitment to provide excellent cancer care while maintaining the highest standard of treatment with personalized compassionate care.

The DMH Cancer Care Institute moved into the Cancer Care Center of Decatur (101 W. McKinley Ave., Decatur; located just north of Decatur Memorial Hospital), in the fall of 2009.

Our accreditations

CCSCI has been recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The QOPI® Certification Program provides certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet highest standards for quality cancer care.

The DMH Cancer Care Institute maintains accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) demonstrating our dedication to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

The DMH Radiation Oncology department is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. The Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation Program (ROPA) provides radiation oncologist with third-party, impartial peer review and evaluation of patient care. Personnel qualifications, facility equipment, treatment-planning and treatment records as well as patient-safety policies and quality control activities are assessed.
