Health Hero Buddy 2 Telehealth system
DMH Home Health Care patients: Say "hello" to a new buddy system.
Initially, patients with heart failure, coronary artery disease and/or post surgical coronary artery bypass grafts will have access to DMH's new Telehealth technological buddy system which gives certain patients the ability to send and receive important health data.
"Most patients prefer to stay in their own homes and using the Health Hero Buddy 2 Telehealth system to learn how to manage their disease gives them this option," says DMH Home Health Director Tanya Murphy, RN. Thanks to Telehealth, Home Health providers can intervene even earlier preventing unnecessary emergency visits to doctor's offices, hospitals or other costly medical venues. There is no patient charge for using the system and all information is kept secure and confidential.
About the size of a small desk radio, the Health Hero Buddy 2 Telehealth system is installed in patients' homes using a cord connected to the telephone. This connection allows patient health data-such as daily blood pressure readings, weight and more-to be sent via telephone line to DMH Home Health where patient parameters have been set. If indicated, the Home Health nurse will make an extra visit to the home, conferring with the primary physician to coordinate any needed changes.
Each Health Hero 2 Telehealth session transmission takes only a few minutes. New educational facts and tips about medications, diet, activity and more is available daily. The Health Hero Buddy has a library with information about 16 chronic diseases.
