DMH Provides Seasonal Flu Vaccines to Macon County Health Department
October 6, 2009...In response to the shortage of seasonal flu vaccine at the Macon County Health Department, Decatur Memorial Hospital is providing the health department with 200 doses of seasonal flu vaccine to help with their immediate urgent need.
Local residents wanting a seasonal flu vaccine, may also receive one at DMH Express Care North located at 3131 N. Water St., DMH Express Care West located at Fairview Plaza, DMH Express Care East located at Airport Plaza and DMH Express Care at Corporate Health located at 2120 N. 27th St.
A seasonal flu vaccine clinic is scheduled Oct. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the DMH Senior Life Enrichment Center located at 102 W. Kenwood Ave.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people who are at risk for complications from influenza and are more likely to require medical care receive a seasonal flu shot. Those most at risk for seasonal flu include:
. Children six months to 19 years of age
- Pregnant women
- Anyone 50 years of age or older
- Anyone with long term health conditions
- Anyone with a weakened immune system
- Anyone with a muscle or nerve disorder
- Health care providers
- People living in dormitories and community living
